William John Recipko Sr.

William "Bill" John Recipko Sr., 79, of Jessup, died Tuesday at home. His wife of 52 years is Lorraine Kontura Recipko.

A lifelong Jessup resident, he was the son of the late Steven and Margaret Maskaly Recipko and was a graduate of Jessup High School. He was a member of Holy Ghost Byzantine Catholic Church, Jessup.

At one time a minor league baseball player, he retired after 25 years as a Greyhound bus driver.

Bill was the heart of his family and always will be remembered for his great love of sports, especially baseball. Some of his favorite years were spent on the field coaching Little League, Teener League and American Legion baseball. He never missed a broadcast of a Philadelphia Phillies game, and there was nothing he loved more than cheering on his grandchildren at their various sporting events. Once an avid bowler, he also enjoyed watching harness racing and always could be found outside doing yard work on nice, sunny days. He will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Also surviving are two sons, William Jr. and wife, Julie, Shawnee, Okla., and Barry and wife, Helen, Carbondale; two daughters, Beth Botscheller, Dalton, and Beverly Houlihan and husband, Pat, Jessup; eight grandchildren, Brenna Recipko; Amanda, David Jr. and Sarah Botscheller; Kerri, Kyle and Karlee Recipko; and Patrick Houlihan Jr.

He also was preceded in death by two sisters, Rosemary Hill and Margaret Wiltz, and a brother, Edward.

The funeral will be Saturday at 9 a.m. from the Arthur A. Albini Funeral Home, 1003 Church St., Jessup, with Divine Liturgy at 9:30 in Holy Ghost Byzantine Catholic Church, First Avenue, Jessup. Internment, parish cemetery, Jessup.

Relatives and friends may call Friday from 4 to 8 p.m., with parastas at 7.
