R. Shaye Ramont East
Lansing Born August 6, 1960, in Yakima, Washington to Richard and Janet
Shaye went to be with his Heavenly Father on June 19, 2011, at the age
of 50. He succumbed to the cancer he fought so valiantly for so many years.
Shaye inspired countless others with his smile, strength, and positive
attitude through each and every battle. He never complained and considered
it his opportunity to help others with their struggles.
Shaye was a 1979 graduate of Waverly High School. One of his greatest
passions was baseball and he attended and played at Oral Roberts University,
Grand Valley State, and in the minor leagues with the Montreal Expos.
He sponsored and played with the Ramont Auto Sales Team which won many
tournaments. He was a member of the championship team in the 2007 Roy
Hobbs World Series, pitching 15 innings at the age of 47 after a pancreatic
cancer diagnosis just one year earlier.
Shaye worked in the automotive industry for 30 years, owning several dealerships,
currently Best Automotive Group of Lansing.
Shaye was a loving husband and father to his children whom he adored.
They will be comforted with the knowledge that they now have an additional
guardian angel looking over them. He also held a special place in his
heart for his cottage on Little Glen Lake where he spent many summers
with his family.
Shaye was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church and was a devout
Catholic with a deep faith and love of God.
Shaye is survived by his wife Lisa; children, Shaye Patrick, Javin, Jacob,
