Veto Ramirez, 81, of Stockton entered into Heaven on July 29th. Veto was born to the late Juan and

Maria Ramirez on January 14, 1929. He lived his entire life in Stockton, CA. He leaves behind his true love, Margaret Ramirez, his devoted wife of 54 years. He was tender and gracious with his love for his 3 children: Veto Robert Ramirez II, Jon Christopher Ramirez, and Roxanne Marie Pina. He was known as "Papa" to his 5 cherished grandchildren: Veto Robert Ramirez III, Robert Veto Ramirez, Adam Christopher Ramirez, Christopher Ralph Pina, and Ashley Margaret Pina. As a young boy, his brother Joe and he were altar boys for the Catholic Church. Veto attended Fair Oaks Elementary, Stockton High, and the University of the Pacific.

He played for the Stockton Ports in 1955-56 as a pitcher. He was employed in Newman, CA as a teacher, as well as a football and baseball coach. At Marshall middle school, he was a math teacher. Last, he was at Edison High, not only as a counselor, but as a baseball coach.

As Veto loved the game of baseball, he became a scout for the S.F. Giants, Houston Astros, and the Milwaukee Brewers. Veto was the founder of the Mexican-American Hall of Fame.

He has been reunited with his parents, brothers Joe Ramirez, John Avila, Fred Avila, and Reginald Pina, as well as his sister Mary Louise Avila, with all the angels above. He will be greatly missed by all of his family and friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, August 3, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at the Cathedral of the Annunciation, 400 W. Rose Street, Stockton, California.

Recitation of the Rosary will be Monday, August 2, 2010 at 6:00 p.m. at DeYoung Memorial Chapel, 601 N. California Street, Stockton, California. Visitation will be Monday from 9:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. at DeYoung Memorial Chapel.

Committal will be at San Joaquin Catholic Cemetery, Stockton, California.
