PALESTINE — Graveside services for A.C. “Boo” Quarles of Palestine will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Strong Memorial Park Cemetery with John Marcum officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Bailey & Foster.

Mr. Quarles died Sunday at Palestine Regional Medical Center.

He was born July 27, 1932 in Anderson County to William Hilary and Lela Harrison Quarles.

After a brief professional baseball career, Mr. Quarles began his teaching and coaching career. He graduated from Palestine High School, Henderson County Jr. College, Stephen F. Austin State University and earned his Master’s Degree in Mathematics from Sam Houston State University. He did post graduate work at the University of Vermont.

Mr. Quarles taught at Sam Houston State University, Louisiana College and most recently at Cayuga, Slocum and many other area high schools. He served on the Board of Directors at Walston Springs Water Supply and was a board member of Trinity Valley Teachers Credit Union.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters and five brothers.

Mr. Quarles is survived by his wife of 32 years, Vickey Eggleston Quarles of Palestine; a daughter, Jill Quarles of Nacogdoches; a son, Judd Quarles of Tyler; and one grandson, Haedyn Quarles.

Condolence calls will be received from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Bailey & Foster Funeral Home, Palestine.
