Ferman “Gale” Pringle, 90, of Amarillo died Wednesday, March 28, 2012.

Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Cox Funeral Home Benton Chapel. Arrangements are by Cox Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Drive.

Gale Pringle was born Jan. 20, 1922, in Hollis, Okla., to Oliver and Ruby Pringle. After high school, Gale was recruited by the University of Oklahoma on a baseball scholarship, then went on to play 17 years in the minor leagues including playing and managing with the Amarillo Gold Sox from 1956 to 1960. The Panhandle Sports Hall of Fame named him Baseball Athlete of the Year in 1959. Gale served as a board member of the Amarillo Bowling Association and was an avid golfer his entire life.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Tamra.

Survivors include his son, Steve Pringle and wife Laura of Chicago; his grandchildren, Daniel Pringle, Jed Reynolds, Trisha Sherry and Nicole Brennan; his sisters, Neoma Nelson and Minnie Ola Jennings, both of Amarillo; and many nieces and nephews.
