Paul J. Price, age 76 years, of Blandon, passed away on Sunday February 24, 2013 at The Reading Hospital and Medical Center.
He was the husband of Ruth A. (Shelhamer) Price. They celebrated 39 years of marriage.

Born on February 21, 1937 in Reading, Paul was the son of the late Paul S. Price and Beatrice K. (Gambler) Price.

Paul was a 1954 graduate of Fleetwood High School, where he excelled in sports.

After one year at Moravian College, he became a member of Philadelphia Phillies' minor league system for five years. Paul was very active in local sports, playing for the Sunners softball team for 14 years from 1962 to 1976. He also played soccer with Reading Amerks as a goalie for two years. Because of his interest in sports, he officiated basketball, soccer, baseball and softball for 30 years

He was elected to the membership of the Berks County Sports Hall of Fame, Pennsylvania Softball Hall of Fame, and the Fleetwood High School Sports Hall of Fame.

Paul worked at Carpenter Technology, Reading, for thirty years, retiring in 1997.

His memberships included Blandon Lions Club, Hamburg Game Association, American Legion Post 625 Fleetwood and the former Fleetwood Jaycees.

Paul is survived by his wife, Ruth, and children Paul H. Price of Loveland, CO; Mitchell A. Price of Hamburg; and Teresa L. (Price) Clark of New Holland; there are also five grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Other survivors include two sisters, Jean B. (Price) Berg and Juanita F. (Price) Kutz, both of Fleetwood. Paul was preceded in death by his sister Joyce Price.

Funeral services will be Thursday at 11:00 a.m. from the Mae A. Stump Funeral Home, Inc., 117 West Main Street, Fleetwood. A viewing will be held Wednesday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and Thursday morning from 9:30-11:00 a.m. Burial will be in Berks County Memorial Gardens.
