Surrounded by his loving
family, Terry W. Porter peacefully passed away on August 30, 2009.
Terry was born on September 3, 1932 in San Pedro, California.
Born to Maud (Bobbie) and Wendall Porter as an only child, Terry grew
up in San Pedro and graduated with the Class of 1950 from San Pedro High.
He has had many careers in his life. A professional baseball player and
a 25 year career in the U.S. Army where he was a Veteran of the Korean
and Vietnam Wars. He achieved the rank of Master Sgt.
Upon retirement from the Army; he went on to have a career with the Los
Angeles Times.
He will be missed by his wife, Elfriede Porter and their three children,
Maureen (Wallace), Robert and Rebecca and by his first wife, Patsy (Merrell)
Neal and their two children, Terrel and Casey.
He is also survived by his 10 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
His family is forever grateful to the Ojai Community Hospital Continuing
Care Center.
We would also like to extend our thanks to the caring professionals of
the Livingston Memorial Hospice of Ojai.
His loving spirit and kind heart will remain in our hearts forever.
A memorial mass will be held on Thursday, September 3, 4:00pm at the Saint
Thomas Aquinas Church.
On September 19 at 1:00pm there will be a memorial for family and friends
at the El Sereno Estates Clubhouse in Ojai.
In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Ojai Community Hospital
Continuing Care Center or the Livingston Memorial Hospice and Visiting
Nurse Association of Ojai.
