Ronald Curtis Pinkerton,
1940-Dec. 23, 2008, has courageously fought and won the battle against
cancer since 1999, and he won. Ron is now HOME with his LORD. God knew
him before he was even born, and he knew the day he would be HOME for
all eternity. Ron had many names: Ronnie, Ron, Husband, Dad, Big Papa,
Brother, Son, and Friend to all ages and Coach to so many.
He was born 9-2-1940 in Arkansas City, Kansas to Ray and Lucille Pinkerton
and grew up in the Capitol Hill area. After graduating from Capitol Hill
High School, 1959, he attended Northeastern Oklahoma A&M in Miami,
Oklahoma.
The summer following his freshman year he signed to professional baseball,
as a pitcher, with the San Francisco Giant's organization.
He returned home, and married the love of his life, Barbara Hoskison,
March 11, 1961. He worked at ONG and God blessed him with two children,
Curtis and Crystal.
With his commitment to his wife and two children, Ron returned to college,
worked a night job, and graduated from Central State College with honors.
During his 3 years in Edmond he also helped Bobby Hunt with the C.S.C.
baseball program. Ron coached and taught at Putnam City schools for 27
years. He was fair to all and always ready to forgive a child's mistakes,
and helped them find their way.
Retired for the last 13 years with the wife he "adored," (his
own words), they traveled to many locations in the country he loved so
much. Ron played softball with many friends, even winning the National
Senior Softball AA Championship.
Ron is survived by his Bride of 48 years, Barbara. He always referred
to her as his 18-year-old cheerleader. Other survivors include Son, Curt
and wife Ronda, and their children Luke, Zack, Nick, Carlie, Amy (wife
of Luke), and great-granddaughter Lynzie of Moore Daughter Crystal Bisel
