PETRORE Thomas
P. Sr., 79, Johnstown, died Jan. 18, 2010, at Memorial Medical Center.
Born Nov. 23, 1930, in Johnstown, son of Anthony and Mary (Procka) Petrore.
Preceded in death by parents; brothers, Raymond, Donald, Bernard and Anthony
Petrore; and sister, Jean Spina. Survived by loving wife of 53 years,
Sue Ann (Popolo) Petrore, Johnstown; and sons, Anthony, married to the
former Karen Skelly, Greencastle, Pa.; and Thomas Jr., married to the
former Suzanne Simms, Johnstown.
Also survived by beloved granddaughter, Leah Petrore. Brother of Rose
Belica, Strongsville, Ohio.
A U.S. Marine Corps corporal during the Korean War. Retired school teacher,
baseball coach and football coach for the Ferndale School District. Umpiring
chief for the AAABA, baseball player for the USMC at Paris Island and
the Minor League system for the Washington Senators.
An umpire for St. Therese Little League and an umpire at the Scholastic
and College Levels. A former batting champion for the Senior AAABA in
Zanesville, Ohio.
A financial secretary of Sheridan AC and member of Croation Hall. Also
a member of St. Therese Catholic Church, where funeral Mass will be held
at 10 a.m. Friday, the Rev. Bernard Karmonocky, OFM. Committal, St. Anthony's
Cemetery. Friends received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Francis
G. Ozog Funeral Home Inc., Broad Street.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Therese Catholic Church
in memory of Thomas Petrore Sr.
