PEREZ, Anthony Robert "Bobby," 70, of Elon, N.C., died at his residence Thursday, December 30, 2010, at 5:05 a.m.

A native of Tampa, he was the husband of Loretta Perez, who survives him, and was the son of Nico Perez and Amparo Valdes Perez, both deceased.

He was a graduate of the University of South Florida, was employed with Burlington Industries for 17 years and retired from Verizon. He played professional baseball and was an avid University of North Carolina fan.

In addition to his wife of 49 years, survivors include his three daughters, Nikki Robertson and husband, Renn, of Burlington, N.C., Janeen Perez of Graham, N.C., and Janna Rubright and husband, Deron, of Charlotte, N.C.; two grand-children, Robbie Brown and Christian Brown, both of Burlington; one sister, Cynthia Ricardo and husband, Ron, of Tampa; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; and his beloved dog, Buddy.

The family will receive family and friends 10-11 a.m. Saturday, January 22, 2011, at Saint Joseph Catholic Church, 3012 Cherry St., Tampa. The memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. by Monsignor Lawrence Higgins.
