Born in Sacramento on December 12, 1934, to Jewell and Alma Pegg, Joel passed away after a short but valiant fight against cancer on August 1, 2010.

During his 75 years, Joel was an accomplished professional baseball player, an avid hunter and fisherman, a trial attorney, and an author. Joel and his twin brother David were members of a McClatchy High School baseball team that won 52 consecutive games without a loss and captured three San Joaquin Conference Championships.

Both Joel and his brother David signed contracts with the Milwaukee Braves in 1954. After high school Joel played professional baseball for the Milwaukee Braves Organization for two years. When he was drafted into the army in 1957, he was trained as a Ballistic Meteorologist.

After the army, Joel became a successful trial attorney and practiced law for more than 28 years. Since his retirement, Joel has written eight novels.

Joel is survived by his loving wife of 54 years Faye Spire Pegg; his daughter Lori Pegg, her husband Stephen Schmid, daughter Madeleine Schmid; and his son Grant Pegg, his wife Pamela Pegg, and son Matthew Pegg.

Joel was preceded in death by his twin brother, David Pegg.

Joel enjoyed spending his free time with family and friends in Death Valley and Montana - camping, fishing and hunting. He will be dearly missed.
