August (Gus) Paglia

Born August 25, 1918
in Black Diamond, WA, Gus passed away quietly October 13, 2008, in Stanwood,
WA. Gus graduated from Odea High School where he was a star athlete. Following
his graduation from high school, Gus attended Santa Clara University.
He served his country in the U.S. Army in Europe during WWII. Upon returning
to the Puget Sound area he played minor league baseball for the Bremerton
Gus later purchased the Cabin Tavern in Everett from his brother Joe Paglia.
His good nature and kindness helped him prosper in that endeavor for many
Gus later worked as a longshoreman. He worked out of Local 32 of the ILUW
in Everett. His love of life and good nature endeared him to all during
his 25 year career as a longshoreman.
Gus retired in 1983 to spend his golden years with his loving wife Jane
in Edmonds and Stanwood.
He is survived by is wife, Jane; his two children, Mary Anne and Michael
(Stephanie); stepsons, Jack (Stephanie) and Kristian (Renee); eight grandchildren;
four great-grandchildren; as well many nephews nieces, cousins and friends.
A memorial will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, October 25, 2008, at Holyrood
Mausoleum, 205 N.E. 205th St, Shoreline (206)363-8408.
