David L. Osburn
He was born February 19, 1933 in Buck-hannon, West Virginia, lived in Mogadore for 45 years and was employed for many years by General Tire until 1982. He was an avid sports fan, and especially loved baseball. David was a standout baseball pitcher in high school and went on to play in the minor leagues for the Phillies. He also played slow-pitch softball for many years for General Tire. David served in the United States Army in Texas. He was a member of the Akron Baptist Temple, where he taught Sunday School for many years. Their hospital visits meant a lot to him and his family.
Surviving are his beloved wife of 53 years, Wanna Louise; children, Sherry (William) Fritz of Uniontown, Sheila (Bob) Pratt of Mogadore, David of the residence; his grandchildren, whom he loved dearly, Philip Williamson, Melissa Pratt (fiance' Bobby Krukow), Bryan Pratt, Crystal Dague (Tom) and Heather Fritz. David was the oldest of five children born to Jearl and Margaret Osburn. Also surviving are brothers, Jim (Marilyn), John (Lyvonne), and Warrick; sister, Sue Paini; sister-in-law, Rose Talbott; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, David and Twila Paxton and their families.
The family wishes to express their sincere thanks to those who cared for him during the past few months at Akron City Hospital and Essex of Tallmadge.
Funeral services will be held Friday 10 a.m. from the Hopkins Lawver MOGADORE Funeral Home, 34 S. Cleveland Avenue, with Reverend Ernie Kemppel officiating. Burial at Greenwood Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Thursday 4 to 7 p.m. The family suggests memorials to the Akron Baptist Temple.
