Francis J. "Frank" O'Mara, 84, of Whitehall Township, passed
away on Tuesday, August 28, in the Lehigh Valley Hospice Inpatient Unit.
He was the husband of Angela (Knauss) O'Mara for the past 58 years. Born
in Catasauqua, he was the son of the late Francis and Elizabeth (Martin)
O'Mara. He served his country during the Korean War. Upon his completion
of duty, he attended Bethlehem Business School where he received an Associates
Degree in Accounting.
He was employed by GAC Corporation as an accountant and retired from Chrysler
First. During his working career, he was involved with various charitable
At the age of 15, Francis was signed by the Boston Braves (now the Atlanta
Braves) and played two seasons with their minor league. He was an avid
hunter and fisherman. Francis was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic
Church, Stiles, as well as its Holy Name Society.
Survivors: Survivors include sisters, Jean Garger, Margaret and husband
Charles O'Donnell, and Patricia and husband Ronald Lobus; sisters-in-law
Erica Leitgeb, Helen Cassidy, Margaret and husband Stephen Hanner, and
Dolores O'Mara, as well as many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great
He was preceded in death by his brother, James Patrick O'Mara.
Services: Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, September
4th from the Reichel Funeral Home, 326 East 21st St., Northampton, followed
by a Mass of Christian burial at 10:30 a.m. in the church. A calling hour
will be held on Tuesday form 9 to 10 a.m.

Memorial Fund in care of the funeral home.
