GROVE CITY — Frank Nesseth, 90, of Grove City died Tuesday at the Bethesda Heritage Center in Willmar.

The service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Grove City. Burial will be in Ripley Cemetery in Litchfield.

Visitation will be one hour prior to service at church. Johnson-Hagglund Funeral Home in Litchfield is handling arrangements.

He was born Nov. 29, 1917, in Badger to Ole and Helma (Nelson) Nesseth. Growing up, he farmed with his dad while they lived in Meeker County. He was a baseball pitcher, playing in Forest City and Darwin, before playing in Springfield and St. Louis, Mo.

On Dec. 21, 1941, he married Ardis Stiff in Litchfield. He lived in the Litchfield and Grove City area. In 1942, he was drafted and served in the U.S. Army Air Corps in the Burma-India Theater for three years. He ended his baseball pitching career working with the Minneapolis Millers in 1946. He spent 15 years working for Johnson Brothers Construction in Litchfield and was the maintenance man for Grove City, retiring in 1982.

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and VFW Post 2818.

He is survived by his children: Charlotte Liedholm of Grove City and Nancy (and Lindy Smith) Nesseth-Smith of Lakeside, Mont.; one granddaughter; three great-grandchildren; and a sister: Doris Stoffel of Brainerd.

He was preceded in death by his wife, five brothers and two sisters.
