PAWLING - Frank J.
Murray, 76, a life-time resident of Pawling, passed away Saturday, April
17, 2010 at Putnam Hospital Center, Carmel, NY. Born in Danbury, CT on
November 21, 1933, he was the son of William J. and Mary (Kalamas) Murray.
Frank served in the US Army during the Korean War, and worked in management
at IBM East Fishkill, retiring after 37 years.
Frank played minor league baseball, pitching in the Dodgers, Phillies,
and White Sox organizations. He was a teammate of catcher Johnny Roseboro,
who went on to catch for the LA Dodgers. Frank was later inducted into
the Dutchess County Baseball Hall of Fame.
Frank was a life-member of the Pawling Fire Department, a past member
of the Pawling Lion's Club and St. John's Knights of Columbus, and a member
of the Hasler-Kamp Post American Legion. He was also a past Pawling Town
Justice, a past member of the Pawling Village and Town Boards, and a past
Dutchess County Legislator for District 23.
He is survived by his wife, Betty (Clark) Murray; his son, Clark Murray
and his wife, Tricia, of East Greenwich, RI; two daughters, Marcia Jones
of Marietta, GA and Susan Kyriacou and her husband, Chris, of Poughkeepsie;
11 grandchildren, Ian, Brendan, Catherine, Hannah, Joseph, and Claire
Murray, Peter Jones and his wife Amy, Megan Hilley and her husband Matt,
and Christos, Elizabeth, and Kyriacos Kyriacou; and one greatgranddaughter,
Blair Hilley.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, April 20th at
11 AM at St. John's Church, Pawling. Burial will follow in St. John's
Cemetery.
Visitation will be Monday 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the Horn & Thomes, Inc
Funeral Home, 83 East Main Street, Pawling. The American Legion will conduct
a service at 7 PM and the Pawling Fire Department will hold a service
at 7:15 PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to
the Pawling Fire Department or the Pawling Resource Center.
