David L. Morrow
Published in the Daily
Herald on 7/17/2008
David L. Morrow passed
away in his home, surrounded by his family after valiantly battling brain
cancer. He lived an amazing life of integrity, service, and absolute goodness.
Born October 18, 1961 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Mel and Shari Morrow.
He grew up in Utah, British Columbia, and Idaho, spending his formative
years in Utah. He attended college and played baseball (catcher) at Utah
Technical College, and Brigham Young University. He served a mission for
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Michigan. He then returned
to BYU and met his eternal sweetheart, Stephanie Nichols. There has scarcely
been another couple so perfectly suited for each other.
After being drafted by the Montreal Expos Baseball Organization, David
and Stephanie married in the Logan Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ
of Latter-day Saints on June 6, 1986. Their baseball venture took them
to New York, Florida, and Iowa.
Never one to be idle, David and Stephanie sought Medical School as their
next adventure. They moved to Charleston, South Carolina and attended
MUSC. As they embarked on this they were blessed to begin their best journey
of all in raising their five sons: Lendrum, McKay, Quinn, Devin, and Chase--always
placing family first.
David joined the partnership of Charleston Bone & Joint in 1999. He
thoroughly enjoyed Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine. He loved helping
his patients and working with the Charleston medical community. He also
loved serving in church capacities, most often working with the youth.
Most recently he served as Bishop of the Mount Pleasant Ward congregation.
He volunteered many hours coaching youth sports teams and working with
the Boy Scouts.
He is survived by his loving wife, Stephanie (Nichols) and wonderful sons
David Lendrum VI, McKay, Quinn, Devin, and Chase all of Mount Pleasant;
father Mel Morrow and step-mother Marsha, his siblings Sherilyn Woodall,
Michael (Christine), Melanie (Brad) Fillmore, Shawn (Ashley), and Shannon
(Neal) Hunger. Parents-in-law Clyde and Laris Nichols; siblings-in-law
Watson (Chris) Nichols, Stacy (Nathan) Hale, Clark (Cindy) Nichols, Faith
(Alan) Armstrong; many, many nieces and nephews, and his grandmother Adina
(Wixom) Barton. He is preceded in death by his mother Shari (Wixom) Morrow.
A viewing will be held Thursday, July 17, 2008 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at
