Clint "Pig" Morris

Published in Charleston Post & Courier on December 24, 2011

CHARLESTON - Clint Morris, 76, passed away on Thursday, December 22, 2011, at his residence in North Charleston, SC. He was born in Bamberg, SC, the only son of Gladys Padgett Morris and Jennings Morris.

As a tribute to his athletic accomplishments at Bamberg High School, a special event, "Clint Morris Night," was held at the High School gymnasium following his last basketball game. He was definitely the pride of his hometown.

Upon graduating from Bamberg High School, where he was All State in baseball, basketball and football, he received athletic scholarship offers to several colleges but accepted an offer by the Kansas City "A"s to play professional baseball.

His baseball career was cut short when he was drafted by the U.S. Army in 1956. A lifelong athlete, Clint continued his love for sports in later years as part of the Senior Softball and Basketball Association in the Charleston area, where he made many friends.

He is survived by the love of his life, Annette Floyd; his daughter, Lynn Morris McCain of Charleston; his son, Clint S. Morris of Columbia; his sister, Connie Morris Clary of Bamberg; and his nieces, Kay Clary of Bamberg, Jill Clary Latimer of Lexington, and Cindy Clary Mills of Ocean Isle Beach, North Carolina; great-nieces, Kayla and Windi Carson of Bamberg, great-nephew, Joshua Latimer of Lexington; and step-children, Melesa Jacobs, Teresa Rider, Charles Floyd, April Thomas and June Fanning.

Visitation will be at 1:00 Tuesday, December 27, 2012, at Cooner Funeral Home, 287 McGee Street, Bamberg, SC, followed by a 3:00 service.

Interment will follow at Briar Creek Cemetery on Highway 78 between Bamberg and Branchville.

Our deepest appreciation goes out to Hospice for the wonderful care shown to our family during this difficult time.
