GUS JAMES MONTALBANO Age 83, of Palm Springs, FL made his peaceful transition on November 9, 2010. He was born July 11, 1927 in the Bronx, NY.

Gus served as an Army paratrooper in WWII and started a professional baseball career in 1948 with the Stamford Pioneers. He lived his dream to be selected by the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1952.

Gus served ten years as a Palm Beach police officer before working for the US Postal Service. He was a carrier for 25 years with special achievement awards for outstanding service. Gus finished a 10-year career with the Palm Beach International Airport in April 2001. He received the Sunshine Award on August 26, 1991 for his promotion of tourism, goodwill and overall public relations.

Gus was a devoted member of St. Luke's Parish of Palm Springs. He was the husband of the late Alice (Stephenson) Montalbano and survived by children Frank, Susan, and Carole and grandson Adam Montalbano.

A Celebration of Gus's life will be held 10:00 AM on Saturday, November 20, 2010 at St. Luke's Church, 2892 South Congress Avenue, Palm Springs, FL followed by a Burial Service and gathering at Lake Worth Memory Gardens, 3041 Kirk Road, Lake Worth, FL.
