Charles Ray Mink

MINK, Charles Ray 83,
of Clearwater, died on Sunday, Sept. 27, 2009. He was born in Nashville,
TN and grew up in Birmingham, AL.
He was a veteran, having served with the U.S. Army Air Force (1946 - 1947).
He graduated from the University of Alabama (1949) and remained an avid
"Tide" fan until the end. From 1949 until the early 50's Ray
played baseball with various minor league organizations in the Midwest.
In the early to mid 50's he moved to Clearwater, where he met and married
(1957) his wife of 29 years, Phyllis. He was a CPA from 1964 - 1995; he
worked for several local CPA firms before opening his own practice in
Ray was a charter member of the Clearwater East Rotary Club where he served
as Treasurer and he was a recipient of the Paul Harris Fellowship. Ray
was also involved with Clearwater For Youth and was a little league baseball
and girls softball coach. He also enjoyed tennis and played softball with
the World Champion Clearwater Bombers (1956 - 1963).
He was predeceased in death by his wife, Phyllis; a brother Bostick and
a sister, Virginia Lou "Giggie" Kindred. Survivors include daughter,
Nancy Mink; 2 sons, Andy Mink (Linda) and Gary Mink (Andrea); 4 grandchildren,
Chelsea Ward, Nik Wyland, Andrew Mink and Anna Mink; his longtime companion,
June Filskov; and many nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life with Family and Friends will be held on Friday from
5 - 7 pm at Moss Feaster Funeral Home, 693 S. Belcher Road, Clearwater.
