Charles "Choc" Millman, a devoted husband and loving father, age 98, of Wilmington, DE., passed away peacefully on Friday, March 22, 2013.

Charles was an avid sports fan and outstanding baseball player. He was a standout infielder and hitter at Wilmington High School. Charles played baseball professionally for the Philadelphia Athletics organization. His athletic exploits at Prices Run fields were legendary.

Charles served in the U.S. Army for four years during World War II in North Africa and Italy. He returned to the United States and graduated from Temple University. He worked at DuPont Company in Wilmington for 30 years in accounts receivable, retiring in 1977. He was a member of St. Mary Magdalen Church.

Charles was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 60 years, Gertrude. He is survived by his three sons; Charles III of San Luis Obispo, CA; John of Yellow Springs, OH.; Tom of Hamilton, VA.; and six grandchildren; Jessica, Caroline, Jack, Alec, Alexandra and Thomas.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, March 27, 2013 at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church, 7 Sharpley Rd, Wilmington. Family and friends are invited to attend a viewing on Tuesday evening, March 26 from 7:00 to 8:00 PM at the Chandler Funeral Home, 2506 Concord Pike, Wilmington. Interment will be at All Saints Cemetery, Wilmington, immediately following the mass.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church, 7 Sharpley Road, Wilmington, DE 19803.
