Mark E. Miller
of Scranton Mark E. Miller, PhD , died on Sunday, Nov. 28, 2010. Dr. Miller
was born in Chester, the son of the late John J. and Anne (nee McLaughlin)
Miller. Dr. Miller attended St. Robert Elementary School, and graduated
from St. James High School in 1974.
He enrolled at UCLA where he stayed for two years, till he was signed
by the Cincinnati Baseball Club and played in the farm system.
After leaving baseball he enrolled at Drexel University where he received
his bachelor's degree in 1986. He then enrolled at the Medical College
of Pennsylvania from which he received his PhD in 1993. He was presently
teaching at Commonwealth Medical College in Scranton, where he was a professor
Prior to moving to Commonwealth Medical he had taught at Philadelphia
College of Osteopathic Medicine for 14 years , and was also an adjunct
professor at Drexel University School of Medicine.
Mark excelled in sports, especially baseball where he played for his high
school and the Delco Baseball League.
Mark loved three things in life, his family and his two sons; he was always
there for his boys' sporting events, no matter the time or place; secondly
his mother and father, he and his wife were there to take care of both
his parents during their final years.
Mark is survived by his wife Jennifer (nee McSparren), sons Ian A. and
Colin P. Miller of Downingtown, three brothers John J. Miller, Jr., MD
of Newport Beach, Calif., Thomas F. Miller of Fort Lauderdale, Fla. and
Daniel J. Miller, MD of Fresno, Calif.
Mark's funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday Dec. 3, in the
Carr Funeral Home, 935 S. Providence Rd. ( Route 320), Wallingford, where
friends may call after 10 a.m.
