John E. Midwood Jr.
Born in Fall River, a son of the late John E. Midwood Sr. and Beatrice (Hathaway) Midwood, he had been a longtime Swansea resident and also resided in Kentucky, Tennessee, and California for a short period of time.
of Joseph Case High School, class of 1948, he was Captain of their Championship
baseball team. A Veteran of the United States Army, he served during the
Korean Conflict as Sergeant and was a paratrooper in the 11th airborne
division stationed at Fort Campbell in Kentucky.
After college he played professional baseball for several farm league teams throughout the United States. He worked as a service representative for New York Life Insurance Company and Blue Cross Insurance Company of Southern California. When returning to Swansea he worked as a machinist at the EG & G Sealol Company.
In addition to his wife he is survived by three sons; John Midwood and his wife Dara of Mattapoisett, Donald Midwood and his companion Anne Foster-Gazda of Swansea, Michael Midwood and his wife Deanne of Somerset, and four grandchildren, Zachary, Mitchell, Sarah, and Allie Midwood.
