Robert J. McLean Sr. of Lehigh Acres passed Wednesday, September 15, 2010 of cancer. He was born August 5, 1923 in Feasterville, PA. He attended Lower Moreland High School and received a full baseball scholarship to Wake Forest University.

After college he was signed with the St. Louis Cardinals. After playing ball, he joined the US Marine Corps and served for four years during World War II. He was a member of the American Legion Post 323 of Lehigh Acres, Florida and a D.A.V. After a career in baseball in the early 1950s he entered into a partnership with his father Adam and brother Aleck to form McLean & Sons Real Estate, after receiving his broker's license.

After a successful career in real estate he moved to Florida in 1972. He returned to work for the State of Florida for 16 more years before finally retiring. His baseball career records can be viewed at the Cooperstown Hall of Fame in Ohio. He was a leading home run hitter with a batting average over 400.

He is survived by his wife, Viola M. McLean, his son Robert McLean Jr. and his wife Gail of Lehigh, his daughter Donna R. Sofet and her husband James of Doylestown, PA, two step-daughters Kathleen Marie Reed, Barbara Kleintop both of Lehigh, grandsons Robert Keyes, Daniel Keyes, Matthew Kleintop, Michael Heaton, David Fox, granddaughters Holly Nyholm, Melisa Corbin, Melonie Rose, many great grandchildren, nieces and nephews and one sister Doris Hayes of Doylestown, PA.

A memorial service will be held at Farley Funeral Home 1100 Lee Boulevard, Lehigh Acres on Monday, August 20th at 12:00pm. Friends and family are welcome. He will be sadly missed by his loving family.
