William "Click" Albert McKenna, Jr.

William "Click" Albert McKenna, Jr., 87, of Lynchburg, passed away Thursday, June 2, 2011 at his home after an extended illness. He was the husband of the late Mildred Noel McKenna.

Born July 7, 1923, in Lynchburg, he was a son of the late William Albert and Ethel Watts McKenna.

"Click" taught at Brookville High School for twenty eight years. He was a graduate of E.C. Glass High School, where he played football and was a member of the state championship team in 1938.

He graduated from Lynchburg College, where he earned his degree in teaching.

He also played semi-professional baseball with the Lynchburg Senator's and then later played for the Cardinal's Organization.

He was a long time member of Timberlake United Methodist Church, where he once taught Sunday School. He proudly served in the United States Army.

He is survived by two sons, Wesley P. McKenna and his wife, Julie, of Charleston, SC and Brian K. McKenna of Forest; a daughter-in-law, Katherine W. McKenna; three grandchildren, Brooke M. Albers and her husband Wes, Amy McKenna and Mark McKenna. He was preceded in death by one son, William "Bill" McKenna and one brother, Floyd K. McKenna.

The family wishes to thank his caregivers, Gloria Totty, Debbie Snow and Dana Hudson for their love and dedicated care. The family also wishes to thank Hospice of the Hills for their wonderful support.

A graveside service will be held Monday, June 6, 2011 at 10:30 AM in Fort Hill Memorial Park with the Rev. C. Douglas Pillow officiating. The family will receive friends Sunday from 2-4 PM at Diuguid Waterlick Chapel.
