Hall-of Famer dies at 92
Manny McIntyre, a native of Gagetown who excelled in both hockey and baseball, passed away last week at 92.
McIntyre teamed with the Carnegie brothers, Herbie and Ossie, to form the first all-black line in semi-pro hockey while playing with the Sherbrooke Saints of the Quebec Senior Hockey League. The trio were known as "Les Noirs."
McIntyre played with the Fredericton Capitals of the New Brunswick Senior Baseball League as well as in Nova Scotia and Quebec. He later signed a professional baseball contract. McIntyre was living in Candiac, Que., near Montreal, at the time of his passing.
