James R. McInerney, 92, formerly of Coatesville, died Tuesday, September 2, 2008 at Mease Countryside Hospital in Clearwater, FL. He was the husband of Mary Cisarik McInerney, who died in 1994.

Born in Coatesville, he was the son of Daniel R. and Blanche Peters McInerney. James was a member of St. Joseph's Church in Coatesville and a life-long member of the West End Fire Co. and V.F.W. Post #287. He was a plasterer by trade and served in WWII from 1941 to 1945 in the 104th Calvary. He was an avid sportsman, who loved hunting and fishing and was an exceptional bowler. He enjoyed a prestigious baseball career, starting with three championships in high school and leading to being drafted by the Orioles, where he played for Dover in the Eastern shore league. He was scheduled to go to Florida to compete in spring training for the Orioles but resigned and returned home to care for an ailing mother.

He resided with his son, James and daughter-in-law Judy in Palm Harbor, FL for the last five years. He is also survived by sisters; Gloria McInerney and Elsie Iamurri of Lancaster; granddaughters; Melanie Nenstiel, wife of David Nenstiel of Scottdale, PA, Tiffany McInerney of Clearwater, FL; 4 great grandsons and a great granddaughter. He was preceded in death by a brother, Charles and a sister, Mary McInerney Brown.

Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, September 10 at St. Stanislaus Kostka Cemetery, Coatesville.
