McGuire, Loyd F. 93, passed away on Monday, April 30, 2012 at Vista Medical Center East. He was born May 31, 1918 in Thayer, IA and had been an area resident for many years.

Loyd served in the US Army during WWII, he was awarded the Silver Star medal and the Bronze Star medal (3 awards) as well as a battlefield commission, he was discharged in 1945 as a 1st LT.

He was a member of Homer Dahringer American Legion Post 281 and in his younger years had played semi pro baseball with the Cubs organization and also the Milwaukee organization. He was an operator at the City of Waukegan Water Plant and retired after 21 years of service.

Loyd is survived by his son, Mark McGuire of Waukegan. He was preceded in death by his wlfe, Laurie in 1971 as well as his parents, Cora McGuire in 1971 and Fred McGuire in 1982.

Private graveside services, with military honors, were at Northshore Garden of Memories in North Chicago at 10:00 A.M. on Thursday, May 3, 2012.

Arrangements were under the care of PETERSON & PATCH FUNERAL HOME 408 N. Sheridan Rd. Waukegan.
