John Jack Richard McGraw,
81, of Howlett Hill, left behind a world that was a better place for his
having been in it as he was lifted to heaven on November 14, 2009.
Jack, a loving husband, devoted father, dedicated friend and ardent Yankee
fan, was predeceased by his wife of 57 years, the former Matilda Cicchetti;
parents, Herbert and Alice McGraw; and sister, Doris Curtis.
He was a standout, high school athlete for Ithaca High School who spent
time in the minor league camps of the St. Louis Cardinals and Pittsburgh
Pirates. Jack served Community General Hospital with distinction for 29
years as food service director.
Hallmarks of his life included a ready smile, quick wit and fierce devotion
to family and friends alike. His legacy will surely be reflected in the
positive impact he had on all whose paths he crossed. Our sadness is muted
by loving memories. His laughter will always rejoice our hearts. RILY.
Surviving are his children, Daniel (Andrea) of Canandaigua, Jeffrey of
Syracuse, Thomas of Corona, CA, and Marianne (Tom) Dillon of Camillus;
six grandchildren; brothers, Paul (Martha) of Ithaca and Donald (Beverly)
of North Carolina; his sister, Marilyn (Lee) of Buffalo; nieces, nephews,
and cousins.
Calling hours will be 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Ryan Funeral Home, 44 E.
Main St., Marcellus. Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral
home.
