MCGLOTHIN, PAUL - passed
away February 3, 2009 at UT hospital. He was preceded in death by his
parents Ezra and Bessie McGlothin; brothers, Elmer and Kenneth McGlothin;
sisters, Ann Lovelace and Frankie Watson.
Paul leaves behind wife Joyce; brother and sister-in-law, Pat and Dot
McGlothin; son and daughter-in-law, Paul and Averill McGlothin of Westchester
county, NY; daughter, Melinda Diesen and granddaughters Amy and Sara Diesen,
all of Houston, TX; granddaughter and husband, Gina and Travis Perkins
He also leaves behind many wonderful nieces and nephews of Knoxville including
niece Sandra Cates who help keep relatives informed.
Paul served with the Navy in the Pacific in World War II. After the war,
he played professional baseball as a pitcher. Deciding to go back to college,
he completed the pre-med course at UT and then went to dental school in
Memphis for two years.
With a diminished GI bill, he accepted a job as a pharmaceutical representative
with Sandoz pharmaceutical company. After retiring early because of a
stroke, he worked as an insurance and securities broker for 30 years.
Paul always enjoyed working with people.
A memorial service will be held at the Church of the Ascension at 800
S. Northshore Drive on March 7, 2009 at 4 PM.
