Born to William Jefferson Grayson McDonald and Imogene, nee Sprinkle, McDonald on July 21, 1938, in Paragould Ark., Bill passed away peacefully after a very short battle with Esophageal Cancer on Tuesday, Oct. 18, 2011, in Plainfield, Ill. Aged 73 yrs. 2 mo. 28 days.

Bill grew up in Paragould Ark., and later attended The Missouri Military Academy where he graduated and went on to enter the Kansas and Missouri National Guards. Bill was a phenomenal athlete. A baseball pitcher in the Minor Leagues of Missouri in the late 1950s known as "Whizzie Willie" and played for Columbia Whiz Kids and the Athletics. His career was cut short after injuring his pitching arm. Bill moved to Madison County Ill., and began an insurance auditing business which he continued as an independent agent until his retirement 43 years later. During the 1970s and 1980s Bill played on many Collinsville/Belleville area Men's Softball Leagues. Later he became an avid golfer, playing in PGA Tournaments and teaching golf for many years around the Collinsville/ Edwardsville area.

Surviving Bille are his four daughters, Lynn Dee McDonald, Deborah C., nee McDonald, Cecil, Tara R. McDonald, Katie A. McDonald; one son, Jeremy L. Turner U.S. Army; eight grandchildren, David C. Allen, Trevor E. Allen U.S. Army recruit, Brandon Schneider, Jeremy Turner, Reagen N. Wilson, Aubrey A. Evens, Jamal D. Scott and Laceyanne Turner.
