McCULLOUGH John Gilbert McCullough, 83, was born July 12, 1925, and died September 14, 2008. He was a native of Jacksonville, FL and graduated from Lee High School in 1943.

After serving in the US Navy from 1943-1946, he signed with the Philadelphia Phillies Organization and played second base until 1949.

After 36 years of service with Southern Bell, he retired as an Associate Manager in 1985. He was an active member of Lake Shore Baptist Church for 50 years before moving to Neptune Beach in 2005 and joining Neptune Baptist.

He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Yvonne Roberts McCullough; daughter, Elaine K. Mann (Richard) Atlantic Beach, and sons, Wade G. McCullough (Karen) Jacksonville Beach, and Donald J. McCullough (Denny) Washington, DC; four grandchildren, Melissa Bidwell, Christopher and Lauren McCullough, and Christa Mann; and five great grandchildren.

The family visitation to greet friends will be from 6:00pm until 8:00pm, Wednesday, September 17, 2008 at Hardage-Giddens Edgewood Funeral Home (729 S. Edgewood Ave.) Jacksonville, FL 32205. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, 2:00pm, September 18, 2008 at Lake Shore Baptist Church (2363 Blanding Blvd.) Jacksonville, FL., led by the Rev. Steve Mouzon.
