DECATUR - Howard E.
McCormick, 86 of Decatur died 8:45 p.m. Tuesday (March 24, 2009) in Heartland
Health Care Center of Decatur.
Funeral Mass will be 1:15 p.m. Saturday (March 28, 2009) at St. Thomas
Catholic Church with Fr. James Palakudy Celebrant.
Visitation will be 12 noon to 1 p.m. Saturday at the church.
Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to St. Thomas Catholic Church 2160 N. Edward Street
Decatur, IL. 62526. Tanzyus-Logan Funeral Service and Care is in charge
Howard was born November 21, 1922 in Hahnaman Twsp., IL., son of Maurice
and Isabel Riborty McCormick. He served in the Army during World War II.
He played professional baseball for several years and was a former Decatur
Commodore. He worked as an insurance claim adjuster for 30 years. He married
Roberta J. Kashefska July 24, 1948. He was an avid golfer and was a youth
baseball coach for many years.
He is survived by his daughter, Kelley McCormick of Billings, MT., son,
Jeff McCormick (June) of Forsyth, IL., brother, John McCormick (Jane)
of Huntsville, AL., sisters, Marjorie Staelens of Dixon, IL., Rita Bishop
(Terry) of Springfield, IL.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Roberta (February 13, 2008),
and his sister Maxine Byers.
