John J Mazur
98 of Manchester died Monday, February 13th at home. He worked for Lucent
Technology in Kearny for 40 years before retiring.
Born in Newark, he resided in Linden for 40 years before moving to Manchester
in 1987. He served in the Army Air Force as Corporal from 1942-1946. He
was active in the St Elizabeth of Hungary Church in Linden, Holy Name
Society and a Gold Card Member of the Knights of Columbus and a member
of the Pioneers for Lucent. He played baseball for the St Louis Cardinals
Minor League Division for 4 years as a catcher and in the army with Joe
He is predeceased by his wife Mary in 2009. Surviving are son, John A
& wife Kathy R of Old Bridge and daughter, Patricia M Saley of Manahawkin
and sister, Dolores Messina of Bayville and 3 grandchildren, David Saley,
and Lynn M & Michael J Mazur, and 2 great grandchildren, David J and
Jason A Saley.
Visitation is Thursday 2-4 & 7-9 PM at Oliverie Funeral Home 2925
Ridgeway Rd Manchester. Funeral Liturgy is Friday10 AM at St John's Church,
Lakehurst with entombment to follow at St Gertrude Cemetery, Colonia.
