Beloved son, brother, father, uncle, and friend, Steven Lee Marquardt,
was unexpectedly taken from us on March 22, 2012. He was a kind and loving
man who charmed the hearts of everyone he met. He was very grateful for
the close relationships he shared with all of his family members, particularly
his mother and brothers.
A natural athlete, regardless the sport or age he began to play, you wanted
him on your team. He started to play golf in his later years and loved
the challenge of the varied Utah courses; special thanks to close friend,
Joe Uribe, his primary golf buddy.
Another passion was hiking the numerous Wasatch trails, where he appreciated
the beauty of the mountains and lakes; special thanks to close friend,
Norm Andrews, his hiking mentor. All would agree that not enough can be
said in regard to Steve's devotion to his daughter, Paige; his memory
as a father will be cherished. He leaves us with his blessing for his
daughter's upcoming marriage to his future son-in-law, Tyler Miller.
Born in Peoria, Illinois, to Ralph and Verda Marquardt, the family relocated
to California during his early years.
Following graduation from J. H. Francis Polytechnic High School, Steve
was drafted as a southpaw pitcher by the Minnesota Twins franchise. Steve,
wife and daughter relocated to Sandy, Utah, in 1991. At the time of his
death, he resided in Draper, Utah, where he lived with his daughter and
Survived by Verda Marquardt, mother, Michael and Ralph Marquardt, brothers,
Paige Marquardt, daughter, Michael and Zachary Marquardt, nephews, Madeline
Marquardt, niece, Meagan, Baylee and Jayce Ballard, niece and grand nieces,
and numerous friends.
Preceded in death by father, Ralph Marquardt.
