Frank Marino of Roselle Visitation for Frank Marino, 89, formerly of Niles, will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Monday, Feb. 7, at Moss Family Funeral Home, 209 S. Batavia Ave. (Route 31), Batavia. Funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 8, at the funeral home. Committal services will follow in Maryhill Cemetery in Niles.

Born June 20, 1921, in Chicago, the son of Charles and Lucille (nee Cannata) Marino, he passed away Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2011, at Lexington Health Care in Bloomingdale.

He was united in marriage to Lucille LaPorta on Feb. 16, 1947, in Chicago.

Frank grew up in Chicago in a typically Italian family. Following high school, he joined the Navy. Due to his great athleticism he played baseball for the Navy league. After his time in the Navy, he was then drafted to the professional baseball league, where he continued to play for many years. He then began a career as a successful insurance salesman.

He is survived by his wife, Lucy of Roselle; his children, Janis, Jeff and Jimmy Marino, all of Chicago and Frank (Brooke) Marino of Batavia; and two grandchildren, Nikki (David) Karl and Deanna Marino.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his two sisters, Laura Barns and Annie Gentry.
