It is with broken
hearts that we announce the passing of John Marcinko. John Joseph Marcinko
Jr., 63, died suddenly on Thursday, March 27, 2008. His outgoing, disarmingly
friendly nature drew to him legions of friends, as he will be missed by
so many.
John was born on December 29, 1944 in Honolulu, Hawaii. He grew up in
Winton and lived most of his life in Atwater.
Following high school John played semi-pro baseball for the Baltimore
Orioles and Boston Red Sox before injuring his pitching arm. He went on
to proudly serve in the CA National Guard.
John was once an avid motorcycle rider and rode with a local group of
friendly bikers before settling down and marrying his beloved wife Connie.
He was a retired shipping and receiving supervisor. John enjoyed playing
golf, repairing and re-selling bicycles, going to swap meets, but above
all he truly found contentment being with family and friends.
John was preceded in death by parents John and Hannah Marcinko, his brother
Bruce and sister Marla Marcinko. And a grandson Dustin Hobbs.
John is survived by his wife Connie and five sons; Christian Marcinko,
Robert & Tina Martini, Richard & Felicia Martini, Rudy & Nancy
Martini, and Jack & Sandy Martini. Also surviving is his brother Frank
and Debbie Marcinko and his sister Shelley Marcinko. John dearly loved
his grandchildren: Jessica Lamb, Lisa Hansen, Rhiannon Creter, John Paul
Martini, Bettina Perkin, Shannon Hobbs, Henri and Eric Garcia and his
great-grandchildren: Ashley, Amber, both little Ryans, and the twins Charles
and Thomas. Further surviving is his nephew Manny Teixeira, his nieces
Shannon Teixeira, Keline Williams and Michelle Marcinko.
Visitation will be held on Friday, April 4, 2008 from 4:00 P.M. until
8:00 P.M. in the Chapel of Ivers & Alcorn Funeral Home in Atwater.
The funeral service will be at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, April 5, 2008 at
The Evergreen Christian Center located at 5959 North Winton Way in Winton
with burial to follow at Winton Cemetery.
All funeral arrangements are under the direction of Ivers & Alcorn
Funeral Home located at 3050 Winton Way in Atwater, California.
