Everett Thomas "Tom" Mankey Jr.

Born December 16, 1928
in Hollywood, California, to Everett Thomas and Ruby Linden Mankey. An
outstanding athlete, Tom attended Hollywood High School and played baseball
for the Phillies in the 50's.
After serving in Korea, he returned to follow in his father's footsteps
as a Land Surveyor for Los Angeles County. An avid outdoorsman, he loved
fishing, camping and backpacking. He coached Toluca Lake Little Leaguers
for many years. Tom played competitive Sr. Softball locally and in tournaments
around the world. He would often be found on the golf course, where his
humor and zest for life were displayed.
Tom met Frances on a blind date. Love at first sight led to marriage and
53+ years of adventure, companionship, love, fun, and raising a family.
When Frances died last fall, Tom's heart broke. He lost his battle with
Pulmonary Fibrosis surrounded by his children on April 27, 2008.
Tom will be deeply missed by friends and family. Son, Christopher his
wife Elizabeth, their daughters Krysten and Stephanie, of Simi Valley.
Daughter, Tracy Hebert, her husband Fred, their children Bynette and Brent,
of Thousand Oaks. Daughter Robin Mankey, her daughters Ami and Mayetta,
of Palo Alto.
Memorial Service to be held Friday, May, 16, 2008, 3:30 p.m., at First
Christian Church of North Hollywood, 4390 Colfax Ave. Celebration of his
life to follow.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to Pulmonary
Fibrosis Research at UCLA (310) 825-5316.
