ARCHIBALD November 20, 1930_ August 26, 2009
Rod passed away on Wednesday, August 26th at Mt. St. Joseph's hospital
after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 58 years, Reneth, and
his sons Rod Jr. (Melissa), Ian (Celia) and daughter Sandra.
He will be lovingly remembered by his six grandchildren, Baxter, Annie,
Cora, Roddy, Ian and Raymond. Also mourning his death are sister Louise
Stuart, Ottawa, brother-in-law Dr. Jerry Nestman, Saltspring Island, and
mother-in-law Rose Nestman.
Rod had his first date with his beloved Rene when they were 11 years old.
When Rod was 17 he was signed by the New York Giants baseball organization
and he played in their farm system for four years, ending his baseball
career with the Vancouver Capilanos. Rod then became very active in Kerrisdale
Little League baseball where he coached for many years.
Rod's later passion was for golf; he was a member of Marine Drive Golf
Club for 37 years.
Rod was an investment advisor with Pemberton Securities, which later merged
with RBC Dominion Securities, for 37 years.
Rod's wife Rene, whom he so loved and admired, was a patient and tireless
caregiver to Rod in his final days and because of her he was able to stay
at home until May of this year.
The family would like to especially thank Dr. Lyall Levy for his excellent
and compassionate care for many years.
A celebration of Rod's life will take place on September 3rd, 2009, 3:00
p.m. at Marine Drive Golf Club, 57th Ave. and S.W. Marine Drive, Vancouver.
