Robert “Bruce” MacIntyre, died on February 24, 2013, at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst.

Robert was born in Rochester, N.Y., on July 2, 1942, to the late Janet Ward MacIntyre and Robert Ernest MacIntyre.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Carol Lynn MacIntyre.

He is survived by daughter, Heather Lee MacIntyre, of Miami Beach, Fla.; son, Robert Ward MacIntyre, of Miami, Fla.; a sister, Ann Sommers, of Chicago, Ill.; a stepdaughter, Jana Schneider Williams, of Raleigh; stepson, Scott Schneider, of Greensboro; nieces, Leslie Sommers Martyn and Jennifer Sommers, of Chicago, Ill., and many wonderful friends.

He attended the University of Alabama, left to play baseball in the minor leagues for Statesville, N.C., and also pitched for the St. Louis Cardinals.

He and Carol lived in Reston, Va., where he was in medical sales at Olympus. They moved to Brewster, N.Y., where he worked as director of sales with FujiFilm Medical Division. He retired to Pinehurst to follow his passion of playing golf daily.

He travelled the world through work and pleasure. He and Carol loved to go on cruises, travel with all of their close friends and he was an AVID fan of all sports. They always had a very tight-knit group of close friends and, after retiring to Pinehurst in 1987, a few of the couples also came to retire and built homes nearby. He was a loving husband and father. He was loved and will be missed.


The family would also like to especially thank Manor Care that has given him such special care throughout the past several years.
