Virginia Beach - Col. Edward H.P. Lynk, U.S.M.C. Ret. passed away November 4, 2011 after living 87 years rich with love, adventure, service, and humor. Ed was a powerful presence in life with his positive outlook, generosity, and loyalty. He loved the company of family and good friends, flying, political discussions, and telling stories of his many experiences in life.

Ed played baseball with the Red Sox organization, was a New York City police officer, and was a proud and decorated United States Marine Corps aviator who served in Korea and Vietnam. In his retirement he enjoyed actively participating in local and state politics. Of all that can be said about him the most important is that he was devoted to and loved his family and many friends.

Ed is survived by his wife Donna M. Lynk, his son Edward P. Lynk, his daughter Beth A. Lynk, his daughters-in-law Laura Lynk and Cindy Lynk, his grandchildren Aaron Lynk, Edward P. Lynk, Betsy Lynk, and Aubrey Campbell, his great-granddaughter Cora Campbell, his brothers Daniel Lynk and Harry Lynk, his nephews and nieces Susan McCann, Mary Ann Sexton, Harry Lynk, David Lynk, Diane Ray, Danny Lynk, Lori Ann Lynk, and other family members Arthur, Renee, and Tiffany Whitton.

He is predeceased by his parents Harry and Margaret Lynk, his first wife and mother of his children Violet F. Lynk, and son James N. Lynk.

The family wishes to thank the Virginia Beach Police department, Fire and Rescue Squad 14, and Virginia Beach General Hospital emergency room doctors and staff for their professionalism and compassion on November 4, 2011.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in his memory to the Disabled American Veterans, your local volunteer fire and rescue squad, or the charity of your choice.

A visitation will be held from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. followed by a memorial service at 2:00 p.m. at H.D. Oliver Funeral Apartments, 2002 Laskin Rd. Virginia Beach, VA 23454 on Monday, November 14, 2011.
