Thomas Lynett Thomas R. Lynett, retired funeral home owner, Navy veteran June 26, 1926 -- March 10, 2008 Mr. Lynett, of Orchard Park, died Monday in Mercy Hospital. He was 81. Born in Bath, he graduated from Canisius High School and, in 1950, Simmons School of Mortuary Science, Syracuse. He enlisted in the Navy in 1945, serving on the aircraft carrier USS Princeton. He was a member of the ship's baseball team. After his discharge, he was drafted by the New York Yankees and played with famed pitcher Whitey Ford in the minor leagues. Mr. Lynett operated
Lynett Funeral Home on Parkside Avenue from 1952 to 1978 and Sauer-Lynett
Funeral Home on Kensington Avenue from 1976 to 1985. After his retirement
in 1985, he lived at Innisbrook Golf Resort on Florida's Gulf Coast for
20 years before returning to Survivors include his wife, Ann; three daughters, Maryann Frontino, Elizabeth Brady and Julia Bailey; and a son, Thomas. |
