Louis N. Lupinek of
Elgin Funeral services for Louis N. Lupinek, 77, will be held at 1 p.m.
Saturday, May 31, at the Laird Funeral Home, 310 S. State St. (Route 31),
Visitation will be from 12 noon until the time of services. Burial will
follow in Bohemian National Cemetery, Chicago.
Born July 14, 1930, in Chicago, the son of Louis and Betty (Caithamer)
Lupinek, he took his last flight west Tuesday May 27, 2008. Louis graduated
from Austin High School, Chicago, in 1948. He then attended Western Illinois
University from 1954 to 1956 and participated on the baseball team.
Later, he played baseball with the South Dakota Pheasants and was then
given an opportunity to try out for the Chicago Cubs. Louis was then drafted,
and became a member of the Army, in counterintelligence. He learned to
fly at Embry Riddle College in Miami, Fla.; flight instructed and was
then hired by Ozark Airlines in 1959 and remained until 1986. He was a
member of the Silver Swallows.
He is survived by his children, Bonnie Lou Morris Grantham, Louis Robert
Lupinek, Richard Lee (Vickie) Lupinek and Patricia Ann Havens; nine grandchildren;
two great-grandchildren; and many family and friends. He was preceded
in death by his parents and a brother, Roger Lupinek. For information,
