Lubas, age 88 of Fairfield, the beloved husband of Shirley Aberman Lubas,
passed away peacefully on Friday, September 14, 2012.
Born in Stratford to the late Frank and Julia Lubas, he was a lifelong
area resident. George was a WWII U.S. Army veteran and P.O.W. He retired
from the Moore Tool Company in Bridgeport where he was an electrical technician
for many years.
George was an amazing athlete and was the captain of both his high school
basketball and baseball teams. He also was a minor league baseball shortstop
with the Chicago Cubs organization but entered the military when he was
called to serve. He was an avid golfer, ping pong player and bowler.
In addition to his wife, George is survived by his devoted son, Robin
D. Lubas of Fairfield; his brother, John Lubas and his wife, Pat of Stratford;
his sister, Helen Lubas of Jacksonville, FL; and his loving grandchildren,
Adam Lubas and his wife, Aimee of Boston and Amy Senna and her husband,
David of Coventry.
He will also be missed by his great-grandchildren, Anthony, Jackson and
Charlotte Senna and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his young son,
Ricky; three brothers, Joseph, Frank and Theodore; and sisters, Dorothy
Friends are invited to greet the family on Monday, September 17, 2012
from 2 -4 p.m. at the Shaughnessey Banks Funeral Home, 50 Reef Rd. in
Fairfield Center. A prayer service will be held at 4 p.m.
Interment with Military Honors will take place on Tuesday, September 18,
2012 at 2 p.m. in Union Cemetery in Stratford.
