Muskegon, MI James
Loring, age 79, passed away December 18, 2010, at Poppen Hospice House
with his children present.
He was born Oct. 6, 1931 in Detroit to Pearl Cameron and James Loring
Sr. James left school at 16 to attend professional umpire school in Florida
and went on to become the youngest professional umpire in major league
Jim met and married Gloria Neal of Muskegon in Florida and was married
in Durham, North Carolina April 24, 1954. He served his country in the
US Army from 1950-1957.
He later moved to Muskegon where he worked in sales for various agencies
before owning his own agency until illness required his retirement in
His wife of 55 years preceded him in death Aug. 15, 2009.
James is survived by his son, David (Lori) Loring; daughter, Janice (Tom)
Naperala. Four grandchildren, Ben Bordner (Korin), Brooke Bordner, Casey
Loring and Cailey Loring. Two great grandchildren, Sydney and Carter Bordner.
