John E. "Jack"
Lorenz 82, of Carmel, passed away June 18, 2008. He was born June 17,
1926 to John W. and Alma C. Voegele Lorenz in Chicago. Illinois. Jack
graduated from Lane Technical High School in Chicago, and served in the
U.S. Army during WWII. He married his childhood sweetheart, Jean Matusiak
in 1945. Jack attended DePaul University in Chicago.
He was a southpaw pitcher for the Chicago Cubs minor league in 1946. Jack,
a manufacturer's rep with Fleming Sales Co., transferred to Indiana in
1968. He retired in 1990 after 37 years of service.
He was a longtime member of Maple Creek Country Club. He was loved by
his family and friends, who enjoyed his unique sense of humor, which continued
during his critical illness. Friends and family may gather Friday, June
20, 2008 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Shirley Brothers Fishers-Castleton
Chapel, 9900 Allisonville Rd. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held
Saturday, June 21, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. St. Louis De Montfort Catholic Church.
Survivors are his loving wife, Jean Lorenz; sons, Dennis J. (Sharon) Lorenz,
Jack D. (Linda) Lorenz; daughter, Cheryl (Robert) Wojtach brothers, Robert
(Wanda) Lorenz, Charles (Maryann) Lorenz; sister, Arlene ( Robert) Miller;
6 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Memorial contributions may
be made to the American Cancer Society or St. Louis De Monfort Church,
11441 Hague Rd., Fishers, IN 46038.
