Loftin, Robert Ferguson
(Bob)
Born in Bastrop, LA on February 8, 1938.
Died peacefully at his home after a nine-month battle with brain cancer.
Parents (deceased): William D. Loftin and Bobbie Ferguson.
Survived by wife of 50 years, Margaret McLaurin Loftin, son Robert F.
Loftin, Jr. and daughter-in-law Toni Loftin (Richardson, TX); twin brother
Bill Loftin and wife Karen (Oxford, AL); sister-in-law Anne McLaurin Simpson
and husband Wayne Simpson (Shreveport, LA); sister-in-law Patricia McLaurin
Douglass and husband Don (Jamestown, NC); brother-in-law John C. McLaurin,
III and wife Arrie (Shreveport, LA) and 9 nieces and nephews.
A lifelong athlete, Bob earned a baseball scholarship with twin brother
Bill to Louisiana State University and spent several years in the minor
leagues for the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Bob had a 24-year career as a teacher, coach and administrator in the
Richardson Independent School District and served as assistant principal
at Pearce High School and Richardson North Junior High School.
One of Bob's passions in retirement was golf and he never missed an opportunity
to play a round with his friends, but his greatest joy was traveling around
the country with his wife and a favorite destination was New York City.
A visitation will be held at Restland Funeral Home from 6 pm to 8 pm Thursday,
December 17th. A memorial service will be held at First United Methodist
Church Richardson, 503 N. Central Expressway, Friday, December 18th at
11am.
