WILLIAM KENT LOBDELL

Published in Houston Chronicle on August 27, 2010

WILLIAM KENT LOBDELL of Conroe, TX, died on Sunday, August 22. He will be deeply missed by his two sons, William Kent Lobdell II and John Robert Lobdell, both of Hammond, LA, and his constant companion Henry, his black lab.

Bill was born on September 22, 1954, in Montour Falls, NY. His early years were spent in upstate New York. He cut college short when the St. Louis Cardinals drafted him. He was an outstanding pitcher and loved baseball. He moved to Houston and got into the oilfield industry and continued playing baseball on different leagues.

Bill loved to hunt which led him to guiding on the Katy Prairie. He loved every minute of being out on the prairie. He was an avid fisherman, which he very much enjoyed with John and friends. Bill began making rods and he shared this gift with his son and several of his friends.

Bill had many friends from childhood, his baseball days, his hunting days, his fishing days and from his various employments and we will all miss him.

In additions to his sons, his stepmother, Mrs. Roy K. Lobdell of Bainbridge, NY, survives him. Extended family includes his Aunt, Mrs. Bud Lobdell and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. His parents, Roy and Evelyn Lobdell, preceded him in death.

His friends and extended family are invited to a celebration of his life at 5102 Waycross Drive, Houston, at 11 am on Saturday, August 28. Please bring pictures and stories to share with his family. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Strawberry Patch, 116 West Thomas, Hammond, LA 70401, or the charity of your choice.
