Our dear father, grandfather, and great- grandfather passed away peacefully at home on June 9, 2008 at age 87. He was born March 19, 1921 in Sacramento, California. He is preceded in death by; his best friend and wife of 64 years, Eloise, parents Victor and Gladys LoForte, and sister Adeline Wunschel.

Joe played shortstop for baseball's Pacific Coast Minor League until joining the Navy in 1942 in Pasco, Washington. After WWII he and Eloise moved back to Sacramento to raise their two daughters. Joe worked carpentry until going to work for the State of California as a construction inspector. He and Eloise retired to Grass Valley where they became active volunteers at the Empire Mine. Joe continued his devotion to his church at Cottage Way, serving as elder and was most proud of his time as "Chairman of the Board".

Joe is survived by his brother Vic LoForte (Evelyn), sisters Rose Miller and Fran York (Vernis). He also leaves behind; two daughters, Jacqueline LoForte-Ellis (Frank) and Sharon LoForte; granddaughters Heidi Houseman, Wendy Floyd, Melissa Moore (Andy) and Mary Metts; and eight great-grandchildren. Memorial and Celebration of Life will be held at Cottage Way Christian Church, 2117 Cottage Way, Sacramento, CA 95825 on Sunday afternoon, June 22 at 3:00PM.
