Milford R. Link passed
away, Sunday, August 16th 2009, at his apartment at the Village at Skyline.
He was 91 years old. One of our heroes and mentors has left us. He was
a man of integrity, of morals and one of the great examples of the â€Greatest
Generation.'
He was a simple man of loyalty and honor. He was a great husband, father,
friend and a gentleman to all who knew him.
Milford was born in Copake, NY, May 1st, 1918. He was the son of Roy and
Blanch Link of Copake, NY. He was married to the late Marion Roth Link
of Colorado Springs. Milford's son, Michael, passed away in March 2006.
He played semi-professional baseball after high school but World War II
ended that career and started his career in the United States Army. He
was a long time employee of the Timken Company, Rock Bid Division, in
Colorado Springs from the late 1940s to his retirement in 1984.
Milford was a Veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict and retired
from the U.S. Army in 1980 as a Colonel. During his career he was a member
of the 10th Mountain Division.
He is survived by his granddaughter, Kristen Ruth Kessler, and two great-grandsons,
Micah Patrick and Jakob Dylan and a nephew Bill Bibler all of Colorado
Springs.
He had a long wonderful life filled with loving family and friends and
we will all miss him.
Visitation will be at Swan Law Funeral Directors, 501 North Cascade, from
2pm to 4pm on Monday, the 24th of August 2009.
Graveside services will be at Evergreen Cemetery on Wednesday, the 26th
of August at ll:00 am.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Lung Association.
